QUESTION:
I am trying to trust God, but how do you do it? I am anxious about so many things.
When we are born, we somehow trust that our mother will feed us, take care of us, and protect us. As we grow older, we start to lose this trust as we become more independent and self-assured. From that point on, our trust is based strictly on our experience with other individuals.
Our trust in God is primordial. Like an infant, we were created to trust in God’s love. That trust weakens as we become more “worldly.” However, we can rebuild that trust by relying on God in small things. As we experience positive outcomes, we begin to build a confidence in God’s love, and can start to entrust God with bigger things.
